CIDEIM is unique because of its stand-alone nature, which is unusual in this world of high-powered research universities or institutes underwritten by major benefactors. From my perspective CIDEIM has fostered quite a few of Colombia’s best scientists. Most of them have gone on to do very well. This is a tremendous legacy.
